Give a Hand Up, Not a Handout

The Bettie Brand Mother’s Empowerment Fund’s mission is to provide women in need with a hand up, not a hand out, so that they may live with dignity and independence.  To that end, we annually award grants of up to $10,000 for women who are in financial need and can use a grant to move towards achieving financial independence for themselves. The grants may be used only within the state of Georgia. Spirit Award recipients are asked to “pay it forward” in whatever way they find possible in the future (for example, volunteering to help another woman in need).
